COORDINATED TITLE INSURANCE CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT

A proposed settlement of $31,500,000 has been reached in coordinated class action lawsuits against eight title insurance companies.

The lawsuits generally allege that each defendant title insurer, either directly or through its title agents, overcharged homeowners for title insurance purchased for their mortgage lenders in refinance transactions. The class consists of those who refinanced their New York State property after mid-1996 within 10 years of purchasing the property or within 10 years of a previous refinance without changing ownership.  Each Class Member who submits a valid Proof of Claim may be entitled to payment under the Plan of Allocation.
